Unit 8 When is your birthday?
一、单元整体说明  本单元主要学习序数词的构成以及运用序数词表示日期的方法;学会运用 when 引导的特殊疑问句询问日期;学习名词所有格 ( ‘s 所有格 ) 的构成和使用。本单元围绕“谈论日期”这一话题,设计了三个任务型活动:任务一是:数字游戏,学习序数词的使用;任务二是:建立班级生日册,学习日期的表示方法;任务三是:制作个人日历,巩固日期的表达和序数词的使用。通过这三个任务型的活动使学生掌握日期询问和回答  单元知识系统 ( 树 )  When is your birthday? 一 My birthday is October tenth.  What year were you born? I was born in 1992.  When is Leila's birthday? 一 Her birthday is September 5th. 
二、本单元总体目标  通过本单元的学习让学生掌握所学目标语言;学会日期 ( 年、月、日 ) 的表达法;在互动的交流中理解生日更多的含义并学会谈论自己、同学以及父母家人的生日:学会自己安排作息时间。
三、单元重难点一览  重点 难点  1. 复习词汇:基数词 l 一 31  2. 词汇: 12 months , 1st 一 31st , birthday , speech, contest, trip, party  3. 句型 When is your birthday? My birthday is October tenth.  What year were you born? 4. 语法重点:使用 when 引导的特殊疑问句询问日期;序数词的构成;名词所有格的构成和使用。 
四、单元学情分析  本单元的主题是询问和谈论日期,围绕这一主题进行一系列的交际活动,使学生掌握日期的表达法,正确使用 when 引导的特殊疑问句对日期进行询问。在学习日期的表达法时要先学习序数词的构成,学生在以前的课程里已经学习了基数词,对于两种数词之间的区别一定会令学生感到头痛,教师要引导学生运用对比的方法,找出构成规律,总结特殊变化,对比强化记忆。
五、单元教学建议  采用 Classifying, Contrasting 和 Role—playing 的学习策略,利用教学图片、幻灯片、实物 ( 大挂历、日历 ) 或制作课件 ( 反映月份特征,课内外活动 ) 等来展开课堂教学、 Pairwork 问答式的口语交际活动或游戏等小组活动,进行 “ 询问和谈论日期 ” 的课堂教学和练习。本单元的教学法建议:语音教学——让学生进行模仿操练;词汇教学——采取情景介绍或演示对比的方式进行教学,让学生在情境中操练、理解含义.并学会运用;口语教学——采取 pairwork 问答式的口语交际活动或游戏等小组活动互相操练;听力教学——采取图文配对和对话选择的方式;写作教学——以填表、造句为主;语法教学——总结规律、抓住特征、模仿操练。

Section A1 (1a-2a)
 一、教学目标  1、知识与能力  Section A 的主要内容是学习日期的询问与表达;通过谈论自己、同学以及父母家人的 生日,理解生日更多的含义。 
2、过程与方法 
采用 Classifying , Contrasting 和 Role—playing 的学习策略,利用教学图片、幻灯片、实物 ( 大挂历 ) 或制作课件 ( 反映月份特征 ) 等来展开课堂教学、 Pairwork 问答式的口  语交际活动或游戏,进行“询问和谈论日期”的课堂教学和练习。  3、情感态度价值观  Section A 的学习内容贴近学生的生活,谈论的话题是生日。通过互相询问生日的日,可以增进同学之间的了解和友情并学会在英语交流中注意他人的情感。
二、教学重、难点及教学突破 
1、教学重点  学习序数词的构成和日期的表达法。  2、语法难点  when 引导的特殊疑问句的构成和使用。  3、教学突破  Section A 重在通过使用 when 引导的特殊疑问句对生日的询问和应答来学习日期的表达法,而表达日期的重点是掌握序数词的构成和使用。 
三、教学步骤  Ⅰ.Warming-up and led in
1. Play the song named "Happy Birthday to You" before class. Let students enjoy it and try to sing after the song.
2. Lead in the new lesson by talking about birthday cake.
T: Now boys and girls, class begins. Today we are going to learn a new unit ------ Unit 8 When is your birthday? Do you know the word "birthday"?
Ss: 生日。T: Right. Everyone has their own birthday. (Write the word "birthday" on the blackboard and teach it.) What do you usually do on your birthday? Ss: Eat birthday cake.
T: Good idea! We usually eat birthday cake. Look at here. (The teacher points to the screen.) Here is a big birthday cake. Can you guess how much it is?
(Let students guess the price of the birthday cake.)
(Design purpose: the guessing price task will help students review the cardinal numbers they already learned, which will make the learning of the ordinal numbers easier.)
2. Presentation
Step1. Teach the new words.
T: Well done. Now we've known the price of the cake, but do you know who will get the cake?

T: Whose birthday is today? Put up your hand.
(If there's any students putting up their hands, guide students to sing “Happy Birthday to You”. If not, then ask "When is your birthday?")
T: You see, every one's has birthday, and our birthdays are in different months. Then who can tell me how many months there are in a year?

T: Do you know what the name of each month is?

Step2. Work on 2b. Listen again and circle the numbers you hear in 2a.
(Students work. Ask two students to say the answers.)
Step3. Work on 2c. Listen and match. Listen again; match the manes, months and dates. (Play the recording of 2a. students work. )

6. Pair works
Talk about the children’s birthday in 2c. Then ask your partner about the birthdays in his or her family. Students practice.

7. Role-play
Let students read the conversation after the teacher aloud. Then work in groups of two. Practice the conversation. Then change the roles.
