Unit 8 When is your birthday?
Teaching and learning Goals
一.语言知识目标
1)3a-self check的主要内容是复习、巩固“节日和活动日期的表达”
2)学会谈论自己、同学以及朋友的日常生活与学习;并能以书写形式表达自己的喜欢与不喜欢的节日或活动。
二.语言功能
通过谈论一些中外节日的日期安排来复习“日期的表达,这一目标语言,也就是将这一知识灵活运用到日常的交际活动中 。
三.学习策略
利用教学图片、幻灯片、实物(课内外活动、日程行事历)或制作课件(反映课内外活动)等来展开课堂教学、问答式的口语交际活动或游戏等小组活动,复习、巩固“活动和节日”的目标语言。
四.情感态度
用节日进行训练,为后面的写作奠定基础,同时课内外的一些活动,非常贴近学生的学习生活。通过互相询问课内外活动的安排日程,不仅可以增进同学之间的了解和友情,而且还能学会合理地安排自己的作息时间,养成有规律地生活、学习的好习惯。每个人都有自己所喜欢的日子和理由,但理由也许各不相同,让学生将所学的知识在实际交流中熟练运用。

Step 2 Previewing and testing
First go over words of this unit and then put them into English without looking at their textbooks.

(设计意图:预习检测检查了学生的预习情况,也为下面的学习做好了一定的准备。)
Step 3 Warming up and leading in
Ask students to read a note.
1. Guo Pen gives Alan a note, but some of the words are missing. Can you guess what words they are.
Read the note carefully and complete the note with the words in the box. First let's read the words in the box and make you know the meaning of every word.
2. Let some Ss read the words in the box. Then let other Ss say the meaning of the words.. Ss read and fill in the note. Then check the answers.
(设计意图:通过练习展示活动及便条内容,让学生们快速回答激发学生学习的兴趣和积极性,并且通过学生讨论回答教师设计的问题让学生对便条的书写有所了解。让学生说出活动,既练习了所学句型也开拓了学生思维,下一给朋友书写便条打下基础。)
Step 4 Pre-writing
T: Our school has an English party next week. It's on November 12th. Can you write your friend to our school English party? First answer my questions to help you.

Step 5 While-writing
Dear Linda ,

3. T: Very good. Now, please answer the questions in the chart first. Then with the help of the answers, write your own note to a friend. Invite him/her to an activity in your school.
(Ss write a note by themselves. Then exchange their notes with their partners. Check each other's notes.)
4. Let some Ss read their notes to the class.
(设计意图:通过图片展示学校的一些活动让学生对学校的大型活动有所了解,通过3a的选词填空和教师设计的两个问题,让学生输出所学内容,特别注意以上的关键词和文章的写作方法,为3b写作训练做好铺垫。)

1. T: Now let's review the cardinal numbers and ordinal numbers. First, let's recite them. Your partner recites the ordinal numbers, you recite the cardinal numbers. Then you recite the ordinal numbers, your partner recites the cardinal numbers. (Ss do as the teacher asks.)
2. T: Now look at Self check 1. Complete the chart with the correct forms of the numbers.
3. Check the answers with the class.

教学反思: 本节课是第八单元的最后一课时,我是将本课时看成是写作课。将2b的内容先呈现出来作为复习,让学生对时间顺序词复习巩固,然后用节日进行训练,为后面的写作奠定基础。接下来是按照写作课的步骤分为写前写中写后,运用多重任务和色彩鲜艳的图片,使学生易于接受,也乐于接受。在教授完本课后,我根据学生实情,进行深入反思:课堂还不够开放,学生的参与度和创造力不足。根据教学要求适时地组织学生讨论,创造一种民主、和谐的教学氛围,满足学生自尊自信的心理需求,会有助于调动学生的学习积极性。特别是写作课,应充分调动学生的积极性和自信心,因为有部分学生根本就不会写或者是无从谈起,这需要老师花大量的课下功夫,先输入再输出。加大课堂落实力度,课堂反馈要及时,反馈要根据学生在课堂中语言活动的内容而定。在进行英语写作技能训练时,我轻易不打断学生,这样做为了消除学生怕错的心理负担,从而使其能主动积极思考问题,参与课堂活动。我课堂中力求通过表情、眼神、语言与学生产生共鸣,多一些热情的鼓励,少一些指责批评,使其以良好的心态继续参加后面的课堂活动。课后及时处理反馈信息,引导学生对一些易出错的地方,让学生学有所得。
亮点:本节课最大亮点是运用学生喜欢的图片,激发学生的学习兴趣,调动学生的学习积极性。调查学生共同喜欢的日子:每个人都有自己所喜欢的日子和理由,但理由也许各不相同。将学生分成几个小组,以小组为单位先制作一个小英文日历,标出各个月份的名称,然后进行调查,标出本组成员喜欢的日子并简单谈论理由;接着以小组为单位向全班进行汇报;最后根据各小组汇报的情况,寻找出同学们共同喜欢的日子。此项活动可以让学生将所学的知识在实际交流中熟练运用。
不足之处:由于本课时知识点重点在于复习,容量有些大,未能体现重难点,应注重培养学生独立的写作能力,教师给予及时指导。
使用建议:一定让学生学会预习,有目的学习。结合生活实际使用时,学生们灵活运用日期表达方式去完成写作。
