Step 1. Greet the class and daily English
Step 2. Lead-in
Show a picture of KFC and the food in it.
Ask students to read the food words.
Introduce to students food that is good for us is called healthy food, and that is bad for us is called unhealthy food.
Write the new words on the blackboard.
Step 3. Pre-reading Activities
Show a picture of Cindy and let students guess what she does.--- A volleyball star.
Have student guess whether she is healthy or not. Why and why not?
Focus attention on the title and let students make some other guesses:
1. What fruit does she like?
2. Does she like hamburgers?
3. Does she often eat ice-cream?
Step 4. Reading Activities
Play the recording as students read the article for the first time and ask them to circle the food words;
Check the answers;
Ask students to read the article again by themselves, and try to find out what Cindy likes and doesn’t like, then fill in the chart;
Ask someone to share the answers and check the answers.
Step 5. Post-reading Activities
Ask students to fill in the blanks according to the article;
Ask some students to read the sentences and check the answers.
Step 6. Pair Work
Have students work in pairs and talk about what they like for three meals.
Invite some pairs to come to the front and role-play their conversation.
Step 7. Summary
How can we keep healthy? – Eat more fruit and vegetables
Drink enough water.
Take exercise every day.
Sleep well.
Step 8. Homework
Interview your parents or your best friend what they always have for three meals and write a short passage about their eating habits.
